‘I arrive in the lobby after playing my game at 5 p.m. and find all my and my wife’s belongings in the lobby’ – Even more chaos at the Napoli Cup
The tennis event in Naples will be remembered by fans and players alike, but not for good as we saw many problems.
Players complained that the ground leading up to it meant organizers had to hold qualifying at a venue that was not part of the complex used for the event. They reworked the surface to a better standard but had to postpone the main draw for a day as it only started on Tuesday.
We now have more shocking news from the event as a player participating in the event was kicked out of his hotel while playing a match. Nicolas Barrientos was playing in a match when his belongings were taken out of the room and left in front with the player in shock when he returned.
He quickly recorded a video explaining:
“It filled the cup! How can this happen in an ATP 250, not even in a Challenger if it had happened to me, well I think it happened to my partner in a Challenger organized by the same company that this 250. Napoli ATP250, I arrive in the hall after playing my match at 5 p.m. and find all my belongings and those of my wife in the hall, poorly packed, various things lying on the floor.
“I check my email and see an email that came at 4pm while I was playing, telling me that I had to change hotels again. They had already changed me once on the second day of my arrival at the tournament.
“I think I don’t even need to mention the fact that the courts that everyone knows, as well as qualifying and the first round of doubles, were played at a club 40 minutes from the official club. I hope that the ATP Tour will take measures to prevent players from experiencing these situations. Especially when the same incident is repeated in tournaments organized by the same company.”
