Knoxville City Council Sets Budget Priorities | KNIA KRLS radio
Knoxville City Council received a presentation on priorities and budgeting for 2022-2023 at its meeting on Monday. City Manager Heather Ussery said this was the start of the process and approval was imminent.
“This was our first presentation for our next fiscal year budget. It’s important to give the board an update on some of the projects we’re currently working on, as well as getting their feedback as we move through the budget process. I gave them a budget schedule. Going forward, we will use the next month and a half to meet with department heads and work out our budget. In early February, we will present a recommended budget to the board.
Areas discussed were the redevelopment of the VA campus, including a potential location for a water park; revitalization of the city center; improvements to the commercial facade with the use of revolving credit funds; the use of hotel / motel sales and service taxes and local options; and the use of US bailout funds.
