Osimhen was surprised but not entirely taken aback by the treatment of the Super Eagles in Kumasi ahead of the first leg.

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has told what the Nigeria national team went through in Kumasi as they prepared for last Friday’s World Cup qualifiers first leg against the Black Stars.

The Super Eagles, despite the flippant tactics, managed to hold their hosts to a barren draw in front of their raucous fans at Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi.

Now completing their preparations, the Super Eagles are ready for Tuesday’s second leg in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

But looking back on what happened in Kumasi, Osimhen argued that the Ghanaian FA had not done enough to demonstrate the centuries-old hospitality that Ghana is known for.

Speaking in Abuja ahead of the second leg, the Napoli striker described his experience in Kumasi as funny, although he wondered why their host failed to provide adequate security to shield them from the angry besieging fans. their bus en route to the match venue.

“The experience in Ghana is kind of understandable because of the African thing, but it was surprising when we landed and we had to jump off and some of us were carrying big hand luggage which was quite stressful for us,” Osimhen revealed in an interview with Elegbete. TV Sports during recovery training on Saturday night.

“When I first saw it, it was really funny, but at the end of the day, it was a good experience. From our hotel to the stadium, it takes about 25 to 30 minutes, so by going there arriving there was a huge Ghanaian crowd shouting at us, hitting our bus and waving.

“We were in traffic for about 45 minutes before we got to the locker room and when we got to the locker room it wasn’t until 20 minutes, then Yobo came towards us, we had to get out.

“We didn’t even inspect the pitch like a normal matchday, but we’re used to that kind of stuff, so it didn’t really bother us. It was really unprofessional,” Osimhen told Elegbete TV.

Having missed the target in Kumasi, Osimhen, one of Africa’s top scorers in World Cup qualifiers with four goals, hopes to finish in style in front of home fans on Tuesday.
