Nomination Award, Placement of 2021 People’s Choice Award Sculpture on City’s Agenda

The purchases, adjudications, and acceptance and placement of the 2021 People’s Choice Sculpture are among the items on the Salina Town Commission’s agenda for Monday.
About the meeting
Study sessions and City Commission meetings will be held in person in Room 107 of the City-County Building, 300 West Ash Street, and via Zoom until further notice. The meetings can also be viewed on the City of Salina YouTube channel, https://www.youtube.com/cityofSalinaKansas.

Ordinary meeting
Regular meeting to start at 4:00 p.m. NOTE: The Citizens’ Forum time for public comment has been moved to the end of the meeting.
Commissioners are requested by the Salina Fire Department to authorize the Fire Department to purchase the following items from Osage Ambulance through Emergency Services Supply.
●A RAM 4500 2022 4×4 ambulance chassis
● Refurbishment and reassembly of the new ambulance patient module of an existing Salina Fire Department ambulance on the new RAM 4500 chassis
●One Stryker Power Pro power EMS patient cradle
Commissioners are also asked to award the bid for the 2022 Microsurfacing Project to Vance Brothers, Inc., of Kansas City, Mo., for $850,669.82 with a five percent construction contingency for a total project authorization not to exceed $893,203.31 and authorize the City Manager to execute a contract with Vance Brothers, Inc., upon completion of all preconditions in the tender documents.
Additionally, Commissioners are asked to award the 2022 curb ramps and parking lot repairs to Davis Concrete Construction of Salina for $99,185 with a 5% construction contingency for a total project approval not to exceed $104,144.25 and authorize the City Manager to execute a contract with Davis Concrete Construction of Salina upon satisfaction of all conditions precedent to the tender documents.
The acceptance and placement of the 2021 SculptureTour Salina People’s Choice sculpture is also on the city’s agenda.
Every year since SculptureTour Salina began in 2011, the city has purchased and placed the People’s Choice Award winner on public property as part of the city’s public art collection.
On March 3, SculpturTour Salina announced that Reven Marie Swanson Butterfly tree was the 2021 People’s Choice winner. If approved, the sculpture will be purchased for $15,000 in April. Salina Arts & Humanities, which is responsible for the city’s public art collection, asks that Butterfly tree be placed near the south entrance of the Salina Public Library.
Other items on the agenda of the Salina Municipal Commission for Monday are as follows.
● Discuss debt financing options
● Consider approving an ordinance, at second reading, to amend the city’s petty cash and working capital code
● Consider approving a resolution to amend and restate the authority to establish and maintain petty cash and municipal department working funds.
● Consider approving at second reading an ordinance amending the zoning ordinance to add a travel center and/or truck stop, a short-term recreational vehicle parking area ancillary to a hotel, motel, truck stop or a transportation area and mini-warehouses to the list of conditional uses permitted in the S. Ninth Street Corridor Overlay District.
